4th of July Down South

Spent 4th of July weekend in El Paso, TX this year with my pop's side of the fam. Although fireworks were banned this year, I had an amazing time. What can I say?! My familia rocks.

My oh so fashionable cousin, Effiey, made sure I was always out and about. Never a dull moment with him. (Miss you already, Preemeez!) In between all the family cook-outs and the night outings to local bars and clubs, we saved an afternoon to head south of the border into Juarez, Mexico, also known as J-Town amongst the El Paso-ans.

For anyone that's ever crossed a land border into Mexico, you'll know what I mean when I say it feels like you enter into a different world. Without getting into too much detail,  I'm happy to say it's gotten a lot better within the past year or so. Thumbs up to that!

Check out my weather appropriate outfit:

Top - H&M
Shorts - Gift
Booties - Steve Madden

And yes, it was scorching hot out there, but I knew exactly what I was getting myself into when I decided to visit El Paso (the desert) in the summer. Nothing but love!

Here's one more. My preemeez and I on Friday night.

Feelin' Foxy

I have been lusting over Jeffrey Campbell’s black Foxy’s for a long time now. A few weeks ago, I was finally able to find a pair in my size at Nordstroms. They were the last size 5 at their warehouse. Meant to be?... I think so!

Here are some pics of how I wore them last week while hanging out with my sister, Stephanie.

Todo Negro

Wore this outfit earlier this week for my brother-in-law's birthday dinner. I couldn't decide on what to wear, so I went with my favorite color combo, all black errthang.

Thanks to the bff, Ale, my search for the perfect high-waisted leather shorts has ended. (Thanks again, querida! I love them!) You will definitely see me rocking these shorts pretty often this summer. I paired them with my drifter tank and my new pumps.

Flores de mayo

So much fun hanging out with the Flores family this past weekend- Daisy, Rudy, Alessandra and co. We got together at Rudy's parents' house for some delicious Mexican food in honor of cinco de mayo. I just have to say that Rudy's dad makes THE BEST tacos al pastor.  I def ate more than any human being should ever eat, but when it comes to bomb tacos, you go hard or go home.  That's the rule.

Alessandra wore the most adorable, hand-made, traditional, Mexican dress. She was the cutest, little Adelita ever! Unfortunately, I didn't have a Mexican folklorico dress to rock, but I did wear my new favorite floral shorts that I paired with a white top and my booties.

Breakdown:
Top and shorts: Forever 21
Booties: Steve Madden
Sunglasses: Rayban

Hope you all had a beautiful cinco de mayo weekend. Xoxo!

Leopard and Stripes

Snapped some quick pics of my outfit yesterday during lunch. I don’t always get to dress this casual to work, but since my boss was on vay-cay, I took full advantage and wore something comfy. I went for the laid-back/ cute look since I had a lunch date with one of my fav pals.

I kinda borrowed this leopard scarf from my sister without asking (Sorry, Wendy!) but I just had to! She wasn't around and the leopard print was just what I needed to give my otherwise boring outfit the perfect boost.

top and scarf: Nordstroms
leggings: JBrand
wedges: Steve Madden

Black, Black, and Denim at Tokyo Garden

An all black outfit always fits the occasion. I can either dress it up with a blazer, or throw on a denim jacket to make it a casual look. I went with the latter for a dinner date with alii and my favorite, little family: Daisy, Rudy, and my soon to be God daughter, baby Alessandra.

Since I styled this outfit with my Zara heels, I figured I'd put my hair up in a messy bun and wear a simple gold necklace for a more laid back feel. Perfect for the best sushi spot in Downey.

Outfit deets:

jacket, body suit, and necklace: Forever 21
shorts - H&M
shoes: Zara

A big thanks to Tee (@glam2thetee) for snapping some quick pics and of course, for the fab make up del dia.

Outfit Victory

Wore this outfit to grab a late lunch with my sister, Steph, in Long Beach. I purchased these vintage 80s shorts last year at a local thrift shop by my house and fell in love with the floral print. I originally intended to give them to Steph since they're more her steez, but I decided to keep them and try something new. They've been sitting in my closet since I bought them because I just could not figure out what top to pair with these shorts; finally, it dawned on me... My good ol' corset crop top. I've had it for years and it always gets me out of an outfit crisis. I can never go wrong with that baby.

On another note, Ale and I are leaving for Coachella tomorrow!!! Ahhh, we are so excited we get to experience it once again with all of our closest friends. We'll try to take lots of pics to share with all of you.

Viva!

Ahh, I've been so busy, I haven't been able to share my experience at Viva Las Vegas.  Never heard of it?  Well, imagine walking into a casino in Las Vegas in the 1950's... Swing music, pencil skirts, high waisted pants, boleros... Dapper looking men suited up like Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra... Welcome to Viva Las Vegas!  Held at the New Orleans Hotel and Casino every year on Easter weekend, this event is definitely a go-to place for anyone who loves music of the 50's, vintage fashion, classic cars, and FUN.

This year, I was surrounded by an upbeat and welcoming crowd. I fell in love with sooo many outfits, especially at the car show on Saturday afternoon. I saw lots of one-of-a-kind, hard to come by pieces; even the replicas looked amazing. Check out some of the shots I snapped.

Oh, and I ran into the sweetest girl in the little girls' room that looked too adorable. Had to take a pic and share her look.

Not to mention, I saw Little Richie perform!  80 years old and all, the crowd loved him.

Hasta luego!
